The first period: am I going to lose a lot of blood?
Contrary to what one might think, girls lose relatively little blood during their period: between 50 and 150 mL, hardly the equivalent of a small cup. Most of it flows during the first two days and is actually a mixture of blood and small pieces of the lining of the uterus (the endometrium), which is removed at the end of cycle when no fertilization occurs.
