Is douching dangerous?
The vagina cleans itself very well on its own and needs neither water nor soap. Douching, or cleaning inside your vagina, can cause harsh chemicals to mix with your delicate vaginal flora and disturb the balance. Once this happens, bad organisms take over and it becomes harder for your body to fight fungal and bacterial infections. For this reason, douching is not recommended, unless prescribed by your doctor. In normal cases, you should only cleanse the outside of your intimate area with warm water and a specific intimate wash.
